Our Duke Prep uses an extended, hands-on process to work the leather, develop the surface, condition the ball and build the broken-in feel players expect from a properly prepared NFL-style football.
Because The Duke uses a darker, stiffer leather than many traditional game balls, the prep process is tailored specifically to how this football responds to treatment.
GOOD PREP TAKES TIME.
Our process isn't designed to rush leather through a checklist. Basic Prep takes approximately 36 hours, while Premium Prep takes approximately 60 hours. This allows time for the individual cleaning, conditioning, treatment and finishing stages of each service. Prep times begin after your football has been received and checked in. Shipping time is not included.
EVERY FOOTBALL IS DIFFERENT.
Genuine leather footballs vary in age, condition, finish and how they respond to treatment. The order, duration and specific application of individual steps may be adjusted based on the condition of the football. Not every football will produce identical results.
